F*** UP BEDTIME STORIES (FOR ADULTS) – David Harewood and Sophie Melville

 

Series 2 of the short story podcast series is finally here. Consisting of 7 short stories, written by 7 different writers, and read by 7 different actors – all of which touch on the everyday in strange and absurd ways.

 

ON A DISTANT SHORE

 

DAVID HAREWOOD reads On A Distant Shore by Francis Turnly: The story of Robinson, Britain’s Home Secretary, who finds himself stranded on a distant shore with no way home and encountering strange happenings in this new territory.

A rich voice, David reads with a clear and smooth delivery and is a natural choice for dynamic scripts and documentary roles. His newest documentary Get on Up: The Triumph of Black America premiered in March 2023.

THE GIANT

 

SOPHIE MELVILLE reads The Giant by Chris Bush which follows the life of giants who must adapt to the new ways of living when a catastrophic event means they are all confined to the indoors.

 

Sophie gives a bright, emotional read with a natural Welsh accent that is sweet and softly spoken. Recently seen in Herding Cats, The Pact and Bang, she has also worked on various vocal projects with Audible and BBC Radio 4 to produce audiobooks and radio dramas.

With other accents in her repertoire including American, Cockney, Irish, RP and other UK dialects, Sophie is an easy pick for audiobook and narrative roles with great amounts of character and spirit.

THE GREENHOUSE – Allan Corduner

 

ALLAN CORDUNER narrates the newly released The Greenhouse as part of the horror Podcast Eerie by Brock Media. The episode follows a repentant young man who returns to apologise to the old man after vandalising his greenhouse.

As well as this original horror series, Allan’s voice credits include both radio and video games – as well as working with BBC Radio 4 for his role of Freud in Dr Freud Will See You Now, Allan’s extensive video game credits include Final Fantasy XIV, Assassin’s Creed, Bravely Default II and Harry Potter.

 

A highly versatile actor, he is also known for his roles in Mr Nobody, The Offering and Oscar winning film, Tár. With high energy, Allan gives an electrifying read and is a top choice for high spirited scripts.

ALAN WAKE II - David Harewood

 

DAVID HAREWOODis back on the horror scene with the much antiicapted video game ALAN WAKE 2. David steps into the role of the mysterious Mr Door, shrouded in mystery with the game’s release.

 

Alan Wake 2 follows the original game in the franchise which was a hit in the horror genre and well received among fans as a survival game where Alan Wake navigates the gruesome murders in a small town.

An extremely versatile actor, his notable roles in Supergirl, Blood Diamond and Homeland, David also holds numerous vocal credits including Wendell & Wild, The Abominable Snow Baby, The Sandman (podcast series) and various video games such as Horizon Zero Dawn and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.

THE WITCHES – Katherine Kingsley

 

Roald Dahl’s timeless tale, The Witches, has been transported to the National Theatre with KATHERINE KINGLSEY taking to the stage in its musical adaptation from Lucy Kirkwood and Lyndsey Turner. Katherine, the three-time Olivier-nominated actor, will take to the stage as the Grand High Witch from November 7th, running until the 27th January 2024.

 

She was recently seen in the West End production of Noises Off and hails as a prolific theatre actor with credits of A Midsummer Night’s DreamSingin’ in the RainPiaf at the Donmar Warehouse, and the titular role of Dusty Springfield in the musical Dusty. Her on screen credits include ITV’s The Larkins, and Tim Minchin’s film adaptation of Matilda.

 

Vocally, Katherine is a fabulous choice for any read needing versatility having worked on various radio dramas such as Personal Call and Way Out East on BBC Radio 4.

Able to perform American, European and Russian accents, Katherine can present a multitude of characters in her voice, and with a brightness in her voice, she gives commercials and narrations a captivating read.

STRANGER THINGS: THE FIRST SHADOW – Chase Brown

 

CHASE BROWN takes to the West End in the upcoming theatre production Stranger Things: The First Shadow at The Phoenix Theatre in London. Based on the globally recognised series, The Duffer Brothers are back with an original story that sets itself in Hawkins in 1959 where we are taken back to the beginning of the Stranger Things in a gripping new adventure.

 

The play opens on the 17th November and is running until 25th August 2024.

 

Chase is a recent graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and gives a dynamic energy to his vocal delivery. In the past, Chase has worked with Focus Entertainment and Yostar for roles within video games such as Evil West and Arknights and is a top choice for video game bookings.

 

His diverse playing age makes him a great pick for performing various age ranges; with an ability to inject animation into his reading, Chase can further perform accents in RP, Irish and Scottish as well as his natural American accent.
